賢いオイディプスが何故「過つ」か／ Why Oedipus, the Wise, Made a Mistake

　以下は、amazonレビューに掲載した、アリストテレース詩学／ホラーティウス詩論　（岩波文庫）、Poetics (Oxford World's Classics)、への短評です。二番煎じ、三番煎じの類ですが、埋め草記事として弊ブログにもpostしておきます。悪しからず。

「賢いオイディプスが何故「過つ」か」

　人間にとり不合理なのは、神や運命だけではない。《合理性の限界》下にある人間の行為も同様である。それを「あやまち（ハマルティアー、hamartia / ἁμαρτία ）」という。だからこそ、賢いオイディプスでさえ「あやまち（ハマルティアー）」を犯すことになる。合理性の限界のため、結果的に不合理になってしまう行為を選択する存在、それが人間である。

　私たちが、今こうであり、それ以外ではない理由。そして、

「よかれと信じたことが、なぜこう喰い違うのか、蕗はどこで間違ったか解らなかった。まっとうに歩いたはずの道が、いつか曲ってそれてゆくのであった。」

　その原因は人間能力の限界に由来する。我々が二千年間「悲劇」に求め続けているものがあるとすれば、何人たりとも免れ得ないこの人間的事実を開示することなのである。

'Why Oedipus, the Wise, Made a Mistake'

It is not only God and fate that are irrational for human beings. But also human actions under "bounded rationality". This is called "error" (hamartia / ἁμαρτία ). That is why even the wise Oedipus made a mistake. Because of "bounded rationality", we choose to act in ways that result in irrationality, and that is what human beings are.

Why we are who we are now and not otherwise. And

The reason for this stems from the limitations of human capacity. If there is one thing that we have been looking for in "tragedy" for two thousand years, it is disclosure of this human fact that no one can escape.
